Now, let’s talk about the new year and what it typically tends to bring with it in regard to the domain name investment market. What I have seen in my experience is that it tends to bring a flood of new blood into the scene. I’m not sure if the scores of newbie domainers is because of new year’s resolutions, or just the fact that Christmas is over. But either way, year after year, they seem to come in droves the first of the year.
Which is great for you domain gurus that have been around for a while. It often translates into many sales from the old portfolio. Sometimes even nabbing a multiple name sale to the same buyer. Either way, if you’re not already a member of some of the larger forums out there, you need to get in there and get ready. The flood of newbie domain name questions is coming, and you can gain some new buyers by being at the ready to help. Often, new buyers are simply looking for domain lists, so checking the forums often might allow you to point them in the right direction.
Also, be sure you have your domains parked, because this seems to also get more attention in January.
