How Much is a Domain Worth

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

howmuchThis one is going to get a few looks, I guarantee it. Because it’s the question every domain name investor is constantly asking. How much, exactly, is my domain worth?

Its funny too, because if you subscribe to any one of the hundreds of domain forums out there you’ll see that the opinions on domain valuation vary tremendously. Which is why, in my opinion, you really shouldn’t take what they say in those forums all so seriously.

Not to say they don’t have value, just to say that it’s not going to give you a solid valuation system for the domains in your portfolio.

Nope, what you need is a domain name appraisal. If you have a real, paper appraisal from a recognized authority (we recommend yourdomainvalue.com ) 9 times out of 10 you’ll sell your domains faster, and for more money.

In most cases, the latter two can competitively rank well against a similar .COM, in some cases it can beat it out as well.

The craze for purchasing four letter domain names has been around since the earliest times of domain name investing, and hundreds of individuals saw the massive gains, and losses, that occur with any type of hyped-up demand for a product. Appraisals vs. What a Domain is Worth

Monday, December 7th, 2009

appraisal-reviewTo some, this is going to sound like exactly the same thing. After all, isn’t an appraisal supposed to tell you what something is worth?

When I was a kid I loved to collect baseball cards. I literally had boxes and boxes of baseball treasure beneath my bed. I’m not sure if they are still the authority, but back then there was a price guide called Beckett’s, and my friends and I used the Beckett guide religiously to determine what are cards were worth. Sometimes they weren’t even worth a penny, but other times the mighty Beckett would give a card some serious power. Sometimes claiming that it was worth hundreds of dollars.
